Nancy J. Baker age 84, of Shoals, passed away at the Daviess County Hospital on Sunday, November 8, 2020. She was born January 29, 1936 in Washington to James L. and Rosabelle (Neighbors) Brown. She married Dale R. Baker on September 14, 1958 and he preceded her in death in 2007.
Nancy was previously employed by the Martin County Highway Department, was Deputy Assessor for three years and retired in 1993 from CAAA Crane. She was a member of the Martin County Historical Society, the Indiana Pioneers, was Registrar for the Hindostan Falls DAR for 20 years, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shoals.
She is survived by her children, Martin R. “Rick” Wininger of Shoals and Kathy Baker Rush of Shoals; grandchildren, Amy Moffitt of Shoals, Nick (Lee Ann) Wininger of Montgomery and Penny Wininger (Ryan) Dunn of Linton; great grandchildren, Hadley Wininger, Holden Wininger, Decon Dunn, Violet Dunn, Syndell Watson and Justice Watson.
Preceding her in death were a son, Terry Wininger; two brothers, James and John Brown; and one sister, Mary F. Miller.
Graveside services will be 2:30 PM Thursday at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals with Father Kenneth Walker officiating.
The Queen-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements.
