Ruth L. Taylor, age 93 years, died Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Taylor was a longtime resident of Nobles Court in Loogootee. Born in Lawrence County on August 10, 1925, she was a devoted homemaker, mother, and wife for much of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Eva Pearl (Emmons) Johnson; as well as her husband, Ernest Taylor, whom she married on September 10, 1943 in Lawrence County. Mr. Taylor died in June, 2001.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by two Children, a son, Larry Taylor of Eckerty, and a daughter, Deretha “Dee” Collins of Loogootee. Also survived by eleven grandchildren: Robert Taylor, Joe Melton, Ernie Taylor, Amy Salmon, Alisha Troutman, Becca Montgomery, Angie Phares, Toby Taylor, Beau Taylor, and Amber Velazco ; twenty great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. One sister, Barbera Thomas also survives. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as a son, Ernest Taylor and Great great granddaughter, Jessica Troutman; one sister, Francis York and three brothers, Charles Johnson, David Johnson and George Johnson.
Ruth was a life long member of the Assembly of God Churches, attending the Loogootee Maranatha Assembly of God Church. Her funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 6, at the Loogootee Maranatha Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dwayne Smith officiating. Mrs. Taylor’s visitation will also be held Saturday from 11:00 Am till 2:00 PM at the church. Memorial donations maybe made to the family to help defray expenses. Services are under the direction of the Queen-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, Inc., Shoals, IN.
